Description

Length: 2.4-2.6mm.  Basic colour: black.  Pattern: none, or thin reddish margin at rear.  Number of spots: 0. Pronotum: black, with reddish anterior margins in male.  Head colour: reddish (male), black (female).  Leg colour: brown (male), black with brown tibiae (female).  Other features: hairy.

Biology

Habitats: dunes, dry grassland and heathland. Host plants: low-growing vegetation, moss. Food: aphids. Overwintering sites: low herbage and leaf litter.
