Leg colour: As basic colour, hind femora darkened. Males have strongly swollen first tarsal segments on the front legs.

NW Palaearctic, as far north as the coast of the White Sea.

Biology

Status: Scattered around the coast (not in Ireland). Scarce (Notable B)
Habitat: Various littoral habitats.
Host plant: Sea plantain Plantago maritima
Overwintering: As adults
Food: Adults on leaves, larvae probably at roots and/or leaf petioles.
Other notes: Separation from L. kutscherae and L. melanocephalus may be attempted using size/width of male front tarsi, but dissection of genitalia may be required.
