Description

Size: 3-4mm
Basic colour: Dark metallic blue and orange-yellow
Pattern colour: Elytra with orange-yellow lateral margins.

Pronotoum: Dark metallic blue

Confusion species: Hydrothassa hannoveriana

Biology

Status: Widely scattered; not threatened by may be declining in part of its range.
Habitat: Various
Host plant: Ranunculaceae, especially Creeping and Meadow Buttercup.
Overwintering: Adults hibernate in tussocks.
Food: Leaves and petals of host plants, often leaving numerous holes.
Other notes: Similar to H. hannoveriana and H. marginella but without the yellowish lateral margin to the pronotum.
