Description

Size: 2.7-3.4mm
Basic colour: Shining black
Pattern colour: Pale spot behind shoulders on each elytron.
Pronotoum: As wide as long.
Leg colour: Appendages black; tibiae pale, except at base.

Biology

Status: Probably a relict population which has increased in numbers. Known only from Hatfield and Thorne Moors in Yorkshire. Sometimes abundant.

Habitat: Moist, partly bare peat in lowland bogs.
Other notes: Frontal furrows single, hardly converging anteriorly. Elytra with seven punctured striae which are absent in apical third.
